Thirty-Third Sunday of Ordinary Time
The disciples were admiring the magnificence of the temple in today’s Gospel. Jesus, however, knew that the glory of the temple would fade away and directs the disciples to what really matters: the endurance of faith despite persecution and tribulation.Jesus warns of false messiahs and disturbances—not to scare, but to prepare. In every age, systems collapse, empires fall, and trusted structures tumble, but the call of the disciple remains the same—to trust in Christ who is our true temple. What structures are we trusting in today—our careers, our homes, our reputations? Jesus reminds us that these won’t last. He invites us to lean on Him, the cornerstone, the unshakable one.
